I haven’t heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere. “Blessed are the merciful” in a courtroom? “Blessed are the peacemakers” in the Pentagon? Give me a break!”

Gory Gory Hallelujah påminner mest om en skräckmusikal. Fyra skådisar (en jude, en kvinna, en bisexuell och en svart revolutionär) söker rollen som Jesus i en film. När ingen av dem får jobbet beger dom sig ut på en resa som du sent lär glömma. Tänk Rocky Horror men med Elvis-kopior och zombies istället för transsexuella dansare. Lägg till bondlurkarna från Stand By Me, en apokalyps, lite road movie och ett flertal underhållande musikalnummer. Trots den smala budgeten är detta en film som aldrig känns billig och påhittigheten vida överstiger praktiskt taget alla produktioner med hundra gånger så stor budget. Originaliteten gör att det är en film som alla borde se i varje fall en gång. 8 av 10.
